At the last ordinary parish council meeting held on Thursday 9th July 2020, Kelvedon Hatch Parish Council voted on the issue about re-opening the play area in Poors Field. The council voted to keep the play area closed, and to review this decision at our next parish council meeting (which will be on 10th September 2020).
The Parish Council felt that it could not meet the government guidelines that were set out to ensure that our play areas are safe, and to minimise the risk of the spread of COVID-19. The government guidelines include:
- Regular cleaning and disinfecting of all play equipment;
- Enforcement of social distancing;
- Limiting the number of users in the play area at any one time;
- Operating a one-way system and time limits.
The Parish Council do not have the resources needed to carry these measures out. We want to ensure that all of our residents remain safe and healthy during these difficult times. We will be using this period to carry out some maintenance work in the play area, so that it is ready to be used and enjoyed when we can re-open
it.
Signs have been placed on the railings around the play area. Please do not jump over the fence to use the play area. Those doing so are entering the play area entirely at their own risk, and may be risking others as well.
Please continue to stay safe and well.
Mr. Terry Portch
Parish Clerk, Kelvedon Hatch Parish Council
