Your Parish Council met on Thursday 9th September at the Village Hall after their summer break. They were joined by Brentwood Borough Council member Chrissy Gelderbloem. She reported that Brentwood Borough Council are looking at solutions to tackle hotspots for unsociable behaviour and should residents have some indications then to email the Parish Clerk.
The Chairman reported on the current status of Doddinghurst Common, which has seen traffic noticeably decrease since efforts to revitalise the landscape and prevent off-roaders entering begun. Recently there have been two loads of fly-tipping which appeared but they were quickly cleared up. Should you decide to take a walk down there, you will be able to see the tremendous hard work of volunteers within our community.
The Parish Clerk informed councillors that the duck house and the surrounding foliage has been removed and tidied up and he has received many compliments from residents on how nice it looks. He also reported that the installation of the new equipment in the play area is now complete! The Parish Council then went on to discuss Eagle Field. Due to the summer holidays and a lack of staff in the offices, the owner is still waiting for Brentwood Borough Council to resolve the issue involving some back fences encroaching onto the field. Despite rumours making the rounds through pub gossip and Nextdoor chitchat, we would like to remind residents that there are no plans for Eagle Field to become a caravan park, petrol garage or more housing. The caravan that remains on site is there to provide the landowner’s workers with snacks and beverages whilst they continue to carry out the necessary work required on the land. The Parish Council has decided to support Kelvedon Hatch Football Club financially. The football club will be paid to maintain Poors’ Field both for the benefit of playing the game and for use by residents. Discussions began for how the village can celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee next year and it was announced by Cllr Sumari Du Val that the annual Christmas meal is anticipated to resume in December 2022 when it should be safer to do so. However, suggestions were made on how we can still celebrate the festive season with those who would usually attend, which will be decided at a future meeting.
Cllr Linda Matthew, your parish representative at the Deal Tree Surgery Patient Participation meetings, said that due to wide-scale distribution issues, there will be no flu vaccinations available until October at the earliest. The surgery also reported that their staff has been receiving poor treatment from patients recently. Despite how frustrating it can be when dealing with the surgery, please try to be mindful and polite.
It was pointed out that there now seems to be an increase in litter around the kebab van at Crown Corner and it is the intention of the Parish Council to have this matter addressed. Also, there was an extremely loud ‘event’ that took place over the bank holiday which was proved to be a house party that went on until 4am. The Parish Council intends to make residents aware of what course of action to take should this become a regular occurrence.
